Josefine Göhmann – Bio (en)

In the seasons 2016/17 and 2017/18 Josefine Göhmann has been a member of the Opera Studio of the Opéra de Lyon: As part of the „Festival Mémoires“ she sang Poppea and Drusilla-Virtù in the Monteverdi Opera „L’incoronazione di Poppea“ under the direction of Sébastien d’Herin in the revival of Ellen Hammer’s production of Klaus Michael Grüber (Festival-d`Aix-en-Provence, 1999) at the co-producing Opéra de Vichy, at TNP Villeurbanne, in March 2017 and at Opéra Royal de Versailles in April 2017.

She also sang the role of Cefisa in Rossini’s „Ermione“ conducted by Alberto Zedda in November 2016 at the Opéra de Lyon and at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris. In January 2018, she performed in Zemlinsky’s „The Chalk Circle“ (UA 1933, Zurich) under the musical direction of Lothar Koenig and the direction of Richard Brunel as a flower girl. In April 2018 she made her debut in a co-production with the Opéra de Lyon at the „Festival Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo“ as Deuxième Fille in Edison Denisov’s opera „Quatre Jeunes Filles“ (1986).

The German-Chilean soprano Josefine Göhmann completed her vocal studies with Carol Richardson and in the song classes of Justus Zeyen and Jan Philip Schulze at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover, attended masterclasses with Juliane Banse, Fernando Turina, Charlotte Lehmann and Thomas Quasthoff ( Schubertiade Schwarzenberg) and receives further artistic inspiration from Laura Aikin, Stephan Rügamer, Jean-Paul Fouchécourt and Gudrun Bär.

During her time at the university she already sang the roles of Eurydice (Offenbach), Ännchen, Despina, Susanna, 2. Knabe, Papagena, Adele, Ottilie and Princess of Constantinople at Hanover State Opera, the Flensburg Theater, at the Braunschweig Classix Festival, at the Herrenhausen Festival and with the Staatsorchester Braunschweig.
At the 69th Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker she performed songs from Messiaen’s Harawi (NDR), in the Piano Salon Christophori Berlin songs by Poulenc, accompanied by the pianist Lauma Skride.

Josefine Göhmann was Semifinalist of the „Concorso International Musica Sacra“ in Rome (2014), participant of the International Music Competition of the ARD (Munich, 2015), the Concours de Genève (2016), semi-finalist of the 7th International Renata Tebaldi Singing Competition in San Marino (2017), winner of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg (2016) and finalist of the Richard Strauss Singing Competition in Munich (2018).

The 2018/2019 season starts with a very special project for Josefine Göhmann: she sings the soprano solo in the work „tatalà“ (2017, 2018 revised) by Feliz Anne Macahis (PH) at REAKTOR / Vienna with the Viennese ensemble „Reconsil“ under the musical direction of Roland Freisitzer on October 23, 2018 (European / Austrian premiere).
